Irácký konflikt je v dnešní době hodně diskutovaným tématem. Jeho srovnání s válkou ve Vietnamu vzbudilo mnoho reakcí a emocí. Tato práce si klade za cíl zjistit, zda jsou oba konflikty porovnatelné a případně vyvodit závěry pro konflikt v Iráku a pro americkou bezpečnostní politiku. První část práce se věnuje historickému pozadí obou konfliktů, druhá analyzuje bezpečnostní strategie Spojených států. Třetí část obsahuje již samotné srovnání. The conflict in Iraq is currently a heavily debated issue. Its comparison with the Vietnam War awakened many reactions and emotions. The main goal of the thesis is to find out whether these two conflicts are comparable and eventually draw conclusions for the future course in Iraq and for American security policy. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to the historical background of both conflicts; the second one analyzes security strategies of the United States of America. The third part consists of the comparison itself.
