Kapitola vychází z předpokladu, že každé historické období je spojeno s určitou etapou rozvoje technologií a se specifickým způsobem vizuální reprezentace. Z této perspektivy se zaměřuje na vztah tzv. nových médií ke konceptu autora, případně autorky a na potřebu nového chápání role umělce/umělkyně. V úvodu je uvedena stručná rekapitulace pojetí autora/ky v 19. a ve 20. století, po níž následuje pojednání o změněné roli umělce/umělkyně v prostředí globálně propojené digitální sítě a o dopadech na akviziční, kurátorskou a pedagogickou práci. Jako příklad jsou uvedeny umělecké projekty Federica Díaze (Outside itself) a Jakuba Jansy (Zóna 1 – 3). Chapter is based on the assumption that each historical period is related to a particular stage of technological development, and to a specific means of visual representation. From this perspective it looks at how media relate to the concept of the author, and at the need for a new understanding of the artist’s role, including shifts in the definitions of art and our uderstanding of an artwork. Art projects by Federico Díaz and Jakub Jansa are presented as examples.
