This bachelor thesis is divided into two major parts - the practical and theoretical part. The introduction to this thesis seeks to outline the fundamental principles and methods of translation whose examination helped me throughout my decision as to which method or methods to apply in the process of translating the chosen part. The practical part consists of the translation from English language to Czech language of the novel written by British author Louise Jensen. The chosen part of the novel was selected for its linguistic peculiarities which are furthermore examined in the following theoretical part. Theoretical part is further divided into individual linguistic levels to which examples of my translation from the practical part are assigned. KEYWORDS translation, literary translation, methods of translation, linguistic analysis Tato bakalářská práce je rozdělena na dvě hlavní části - část praktickou a teoretickou. Úvod práce se pokouší nastínit hlavní principy a metody překládání, na základě jejichž zkoumání jsem se dále rozhodovala, jaký postup zvolím k překladu vybraného úryvku románu. V praktické části je vybrána část románu britské autorky Louise Jensen, která je přeložena z anglického do českého jazyka. Úryvek byl vybrán tak, aby obsahoval co nejvíce lingvisticky náročných pasáží, jejichž podrobnému zkoumání jsem se dále věnovala v navazující teoretické části. Teoretická část je dále rozdělena na jednotlivě zkoumané jazykové roviny, ke kterým jsou přiděleny ukázky překladu z části praktické.
