Sekundární pohlavní znaky hrají nenahraditelnou roli v rozmnožování celé řady živočichů a předpokládá se, že by tyto znaky mohly fungovat jako signály kvality a kondice, na základě kterých se jedinci párují. Exprese těchto znaků, chceme-li ornamentů, může také souviset s personalitou a behaviorálními strategiemi jedince. U melaninových ornamentů se navíc uvažuje nejen o souvislosti s personalitou jedince, ale také o možné souvislosti s odolností vůči stresu a s mírou stresové odpovědi. Tato hypotéza vznikla především díky pleiotropickému efektu melanokortinového systému, který se uplatňuje nejen během melanogeneze ale také při tvorbě hormonů, které se podílejí na spuštění stresové odpovědi. Cílem práce bylo objasnění vztahů mezi ornamenty jedince, jeho stresovou odpovědí a personalitou u vlaštovky obecné (Hirundo rustica rustica). V rámci práce byl testován vztah mezi vybranými ornamenty a stresovou reakcí organismu, v podobě stresové hladiny glukózy měřené po 15 minutách od setkání jedince se stresovým podnětem. U obou pohlaví byla prokázána korelace mezi velikostí bílých ocasních skvrn a stresovou odpovědí. Pouze u samců se navíc objevil vztah s délkou krajních ocasních per a naopak u samic byl objeven vztah se sytostí zbarvení peří na hrdle. Druhá část práce se zabývá experimentem testujícím... Secondary sexual traits play an irreplaceable role in the reproduction of a range of animals and are used as quality and fitness sensors during pairing of individuals. Expression of these traits, ornamentes, can correlated with an individual's personal and behavioral strategies. In the case of melanin ornaments, not only the relationships with personal individuals are considered, but there is the possible connections with stress resistance and the level of stress responses too. This hypothesis is based on the pleiotropic effect of the melanocortin system, which can be used during melanogenesis but also in the production of hormones that contribute to range of stress responses. The aim of this work was to clarify the relationship between an individual's ornaments, his stress response and individuality in the barn swallows (Hirundo rustica rustica). In this work the relationship between selected ornaments and the stress reaction of the organism, stressed glucose levels measured 15 minutes after a stress stimulus, was tested. Both sexes showed a correlation between area of white tail spots and stress response.
