Diplomová práce se zabývá možnostmi navrhování současných budov do historického kontextu centra města. Důraz je kladen na urbanistické začlenění nových objemů do současné struktury města a místa s jeho geniem loci. Výsledkem návrhu by měly být domy s charakterem a jasnými dispozicemi za využití kvalitních materiálů. Řešené území se nachází v blízkosti centra města Hradec Králové a je vymezeno ulicemi Komenského, I. Herrmanna a Hradeckou. Přímo sousedí s historickým jádrem města. Středem řešeného území protéká řeka Orlice rozdělující území na dvě samostatně řešené zóny, které spolu navzájem komunikují. Přítomnost řeky je považována za výrazný městotvorný prvek, který je nutné ve městě využít a podpořit. Jednou z charakteristik místa je špatný stav veřejných prostranství, několik výrazných bariér, ať už pohybových, provozních nebo pohledových a urbánně nepropojených ploch nebo neadekvátně využitých ploch a staveb. Okolí řeky Orlice, protékající centrem Hradce Králové, je z pohledu blízké historie velmi významnou, ale zároveň i těžko uchopitelnou částí Hradce Králové pro budoucí rozvoj. Všechna tři fakta – parcela v centru města, přítomnost řeky, ale i zanedbaná veřejná prostranství – vedou k tomu, že tato oblast musí být rehabilitována, revitalizována a zpřístupněna lidem. The diploma project is resolving the possibilities of designing contemporary buildings into the historical context of city centre. The emphasis is aimed on urban integration of new volumes into the present city structure and its genius loci. The result of the design should be buildings with specific character and clear dispositions using quality materials. The area is located near the city centre of Hradec Králové and is defined by the streets Comenius, I.Herrmann and Hradecká. It is directly adjacent to the historic city center. In the middle of the area is flowing The Orlice River, which divides area into two separately designed zones, which is communicating with each other. The presence of the river is considered to be a distinctive urban-forming element that needs to be used and promoted in the city. One of the characteristics of the site is the poor state of public spaces, several significant barriers, whether moving, operational or visible and urban unconnected areas or unreasonable used areas and buildings. The surrounding of The Orlice River, flowing through the center of Hradec Králové, is from near future very important, but at the same time hard to handle. All three facts - the city center plot, the presence of the river, but also the neglected public spaces - leading this area rehabilitated, revitalized and made accessible to people.
