Bakalářská práce je věnována politickým, právním a kulturním vztahům na území dnešních Britských ostrovů ve druhé polovině 13. a na počátku 14. století. Klíčovou osobností tohoto období a stěžejním "bodem" práce je anglický král Eduard I. Plantagenet. Jeho život před nástupem na trůn bude obsahem první části práce. Druhá část práce je analýzou podrobení Walesu pod anglickou nadvládu, prostředků k tomu Eduardem užitých a následného správnímu rozdělení země. Ve třetí části je rozebrána situace na území Skotska, autor zkoumá dědičné nároky na korunu, zásahy anglického krále do sporů skotské šlechty, analyzuje počátky a průběh Skotské války za nezávislost a rozebírá roli osobností, které se jí přímo účastnily. V poslední části práce autor analyzuje politickou a společenskou situaci na Britských ostrovech po smrti Eduarda I. a nástupu jeho syna Eduarda II (na trůn). The bachelor thesis is dedicated to political, legal and cultural relations on the lands of the present British Isles in the second half of the thirteenth century and at the beginning of the fourteenth century. A person that is considered crucial for this period and the pivotal "point" of this thesis is King Edward I of England. The first part of this work deals with his life before his accession to the throne. Annexation of Wales is analysed in the second part of thesis as well as the means used by Edward and subsequent administrative division of the country. The third part analyses the situation in the lands of Scotland. The author scrutinizes hereditary succession of the crown and interference of the English King in the Scottish nobility disputes. Moreover, it analyses the beginning and the times during the Scottish war for independence and deconstructs the positions of the leading figures involved. In the last part of the thesis, the author analyses the political and social situation on the British Isles after the death of Edward I of England and the succession of his son, Edward II.
