Snahou práce je v obecné rovině upozornit na množství dodnes neuspokojivě zodpovězených otázek spojených s používáním šlechtické pečetě a především pečetidla. Na příkladu rozboru nevelkého souboru sfragistických a heraldických památek šlechtické rodiny Bořek-Dohalských z Dohalic se potvrzuje mnou předpokládaný fakt, že obecně přijímaná pravidla heraldiky a sfragistiky jsou mnohdy rozvolněna do té míry, že je nutné sledovat jejich skutečný význam. Zdá se, že sociální a rodové vazby mnohdy více promlouvají do písemného pořízení (půjčování pečetidel) než striktní výklad práva. Práce naznačuje, že podobný vývoj můžeme očekávat i u jiných rodin, a zároveň nás upozorňuje, že přítomnost diplomatických anomálií může významně posunout náš pohled na písemné pořízení od samé existence pečetě do jejího konce. Výsledky této práce jsou tedy výzvou k hlubším syntézám na podobné téma. Klíčová slova: sfragistika, šlechta, šlechtická pečeť, pečetidlo, erb, znak, Bořek- Dohalský z Dohalic The aim of this work is to draw attention to the amount of unsatisfactorily answered questions up to this day connected with the use of the aristocratic seal and particularly the sealing-stick. An example of the analysis of a small set of sphragistic and heraldic monuments of the Bořek-Dohalský aristocratic family from Dohalice confi rms the presumed fact of mine that the generally accepted rules of heraldry and sphragistics are often dissociated to that extent that their true meaning is to be observed. It seems that social and family ties often more aff ect the written drawing-ups (lending of sealing-sticks) than strict interpretation of the law. The work suggests that similar development can be expected in other families, and at the same time it warns us that the presence of diplomatic anomalies can signifi cantly shift our view of written drawing-ups from the very existence of the seal to its end. The results of this work are therefore a challenge to deeper syntheses on a similar topic.
