Anotace: Reformní judaismus vychází z myšlenkového dědictví osvícenství (haskaly) a jeho počátky sahají do konce 18. století. Toto hnutí se zrodilo v Německu, nicméně opravdový rozmach a reforma v pravém slova smyslu nastala v první polovině 19. století v Americe s příjezdem evropských emigrantů, kteří s sebou přivezli i nové myšlenky ovlivněné evropským reformním hnutím. Nebývalý úspěch reformního hnutí, které se rychle šířilo napříč Severní Amerikou, plynul hlavně z nedostatku centrální rabínské autority. A právě tento prázdný post byl vyplněn rabíny z Evropy, kteří se v polovině 19. století přidali k emigrační vlně. Předkládaná disertační práce se zabývá problematikou vlivu evropského reformního judaismu na americký reformní judaismus v 19. století v kontextu kulturních dějin se zaměření na charakteristické znaky ve snaze přiblížit rozdílné náboženské, ideologické, politické a socioekonomické výzvy, které ovlivnily židovskou komunitu v USA. Klíčová slova Reformní judaismus, Amerika, Evropa, náboženství, stát, tradice, ženy, 19. století Reform Judaism is based precisely on the intellectual heritage of the Enlightenment (Haskalah) and its origins is dated back to the late 18th century. This movement was born in Germany, but the real boom and reform in the true sense of the word occurred in the first half of the 19th century in America with the arrival of European immigrants who brought with them new ideas influenced by European reform movement. The extraordinary success of the reform movement, that quickly spread across North America, resulted mainly from the religious tolerance. This dissertation deals with the issue of the impact of European Reform Judaism on American Reform Judaism in the 19th century in the context of cultural history, focusing on the characteristics, trying to describe different religious, ideological, political and socio- economic challenges affecting the Jewish community in the United States.
