Práce se zabývá nově vzniklým ateliérem J. V. Myslbeka na Akademii výtvarných umění v Praze založeným v roce 1896. Nejprve hodnotí samotnou osobnost J. V. Myslbeka a jeho umělecký vývoj od poloviny šedesátých let 19. století. Cestu do Paříže z roku 1878 a přátelství s Vojtěchem Hynaisem, které mu přineslo hlubší vhled do soudobé francouzské plastiky, zásadní pro stylové formování plastiky Hudba, na níž pracoval mezi léty 1891 až 1907 v průběhu jeho působení na Uměleckoprůmyslové škole a na Akademii výtvarných umění v Praze. Nejstarší žáci Myslbeka z Uměleckoprůmyslové školy byli ovlivněni profesorovým lyrickým pojetím, generace Mařatkových spolužáků přešla se svým učitelem na nově vzniklou Akademii. Kolem roku 1900 začaly ostré konflikty mezi učitelem a žáky, které se zpětně viděno jeví jako zásadní pro jejich budoucí úspěch. Do sochařského ateliéru na AVU přicházeli absolventi hořické školy sochařsko-kamenické. Hořická průprava byla ideálním východiskem pro umělecký růst žáků Myslbeka, který dával důraz na řemeslo, jemuž se učili na pomníku sv. Václava. Myslbek se začínal střetávat s novou generací v otázkách modernosti zejména po výstavě Augusta Rodina v Praze roku 1902. Práce dále zkoumá působení českých Němců z nejsilnějšího sochařského ročníku na Akademii 1898-1902 (Karl Wilfert, ml., Alois... The main subject of the thesis are the beginnings of the studio founded by J. V. Myslbek at the Academy of Arts in Prague in 1896. Firstly, the personality of J. V. Myslbek and his evolution as an artist since the early sixties of the 19th century are being discussed. This part covers Myslbek's trip to Paris in 1878 and his friendship with Vojtech Hynais, which helped him gain a deeper understanding of the contemporary French sculpture and which was vital to the stylistic formation of his sculpture "Music" (created between 1891 and 1907, during Myslbek's presence at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design and at the Academy of Arts). Myslbek's first students at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design were influenced by his lyrical conception; the generation of Maratka's classmates have followed their teacher to the newly established Academy of Arts. Around 1900 sharp controversies between the teacher and his students have arised - these in retrograde seem to be essential for their future success. Graduates of the College of Stonemasonry and Sculpture in Horice were among the students of the sculpture studio at the Academy of Arts in Prague.
