Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá odpadem a managementem odpadu v Praze v 19. století. Teoretickým východiskem je koncept "metabolismu města", jehož nedílnou součástí odpady, jakožto metabolické výstupy, jsou. Odpady jsou zároveň nahlíženy jako příklad interakcí města a jeho okolí. Záměrem práce je na příkladu Prahy ověřit tezi, že 19. století paradoxně nebylo stoletím odpadů. V době postupující industrializace a nedostatku surovin byla snaha opětovně využít každý potenciálně dále využitelný materiál. Práce na základě studia odborné literatury a především analýzy archivních dokumentů mapuje dílčí kroky managementu odpadu v Praze v 19. století (čištění města, sběr a transport odpadu, další nakládání s odpadem), přičemž hlavní pozornost je věnována interakcím města a jeho okolí v souvislosti s dalším nakládáním s odpadem. Výsledky analýzy jsou následně šířeji interpretovány a kontextualizovány v závěrech. klíčová slova: odpady, management odpadu, Praha, "dlouhé" 19. století, proces industrializace, interakce města a jeho okolí, společenský a urbánní metabolismus, environmentální dějiny This thesis deals with waste and waste management in 19th century in Prague. The theoretical basis is the concept of "urban metabolism", which part is waste, as the metabolic output. Waste is also seen as an example of interactions between city and its hinterland. The intention of this thesis is to prove the proposition on the case of Prague, that the 19th century wasn't the century of waste. At the time of progressing industrialization and demand of raw materials there was the tendency to reuse every potentially usable material. This thesis describes based on literature and especially on analysis of archival documents the particular steps of waste management in 19th century in Prague (city cleaning, collection, transport and disposal of waste), whereas the main concern lays in interaction of city and its hinterland in context of waste disposal.
