Diplomová práce se věnuje analýze vztahu vystavení mediálním obsahům o uprchlictví a pociťované důležitosti tohoto tématu. V práci je zvolen kombinovaný výzkumný design podle schématu QUAN → qual. V kvantitativní části je modelován vliv vystavení obsahům o uprchlictví na vnímání důležitosti tématu na datech sledovanosti televize a čtenosti periodického tisku při kontrole sociodemografických charakteristik respondenta. K nalezení vlivu byla použita binární logistická regrese. Analýza ukazuje, že vystavení obsahům o uprchlictví má skutečně vliv na míru důležitosti tématu pro respondenty. Do tohoto vztahu ovšem vstupují další proměnné, které modely nedokáží zachytit. Navazuje kvalitativní výzkum ve formě hloubkových rozhovorů, který byl použit pro doplnění zjištění z kvantitativní části. Z rozhovorů vyplynulo, že si jsou lidé vědomi zejména vlivu médií na to, o čem přemýšlí či se baví se svým okolím. Média mají podle některých dotazovaných silnější vliv u témat, jako je uprchlictví a imigrace, se kterými nemají dotazovaní osobní zkušenost, a jsou odkázáni na informace právě z médií. Kromě médií může mít na vnímání důležitosti vliv například hodnotová orientace respondenta, jeho životní zkušenost, sociální okolí nebo kritičnost přijímání zpráv. The diploma thesis concerns itself with the analysis of connection between the media exposure to refugeedom topics and the perceived salience of the issue. Combined qualitative and quantitative research designs ruled by QUAN → qual scheme are used in the thesis. In the quantitative part the effect of exposure to refugeedom-related news on the perceived salience of the subject is constructed using TV and newspaper viewing figures while controlling socio- demographic characteristics of respondents. Binary logistic regression was used to find the influence. The analysis shows that the exposure to content concerning immigration and refugees has influenced the rated importance of the issue. However, there are other variables not included in the model which are affecting the salience. The qualitative approach offers insights into the relationship discovered with quantitative methods. In-depth interviews showed people are aware of the media influence mainly regarding topics they are thinking about and discussing with their social surroundings. According to some interviewees this influence is stronger observed in topics where we lack personal experience, like the refugees.
