This thesis describes the characteristics of nosocomial infections, sources, transmission routes and different kinds of these infections. Emphasised are activities of non- medical personnel, particularly with regard to respect for Fundamentals hygienic and antiepidemic measures. The main topic was to explore the level of knowledge of paramedical personnel in the field of nosocomial infections. A survey was performed in the group of respondents, who were nurses working in selected ICUs of University Hospital in Hradec Kralove.
