Tématem práce je oblast náležící rozhraní knihovnictví, archivnictví a literární historie - jde o syntézu několika zájmů a pohledů na problematiku. Cenzura jako nástroj režimu v bývalé ČSR, resp. ČSSR zabraňovala mnohým spisovatelům vydávat jakákoli svá díla. Práce se zabývá nejen knihami, jež jsou ve slovnících uváděny jako zničené, a přesto existují, ale také těmito tématy: jak se přelom 60. a 70. let 20. století projevil v knihovnách, knihkupectvích a v antikvariátech, jaká byla nakladatelská praxe té doby, jak se o zmiňované době vyjadřují pamětníci, kteří se pohybovali v těchto odvětvích, co se stalo s knihami, jež byly ze dne na den zakázány, jaká byla praxe Ediční rady, co obnášelo pracovat právě se zakázanými knihami apod. Součástí práce je popis politického vlivu včetně představení seznamu děl, jež nesměla být vydána, případně celý náklad řady knih "zmizel". V knihovnách se popisovaná díla (a tisíce dalších) zavírala do skříní, zřizovaly se zvláštní útvary, které měly celou organizaci na starost, zakládala se oddělení, kam směl čtenář pouze se zvláštním povolením. Tato literatura se vrátila do fondů knihoven na začátku devadesátých let v nekompletním množství, neboť řada svazků zmizela v nezabezpečených depozitářích, jiné byly odcizeny. The topic of this thesis borders librarianship, archival science and literary history - it is a synthesis of several interests and views of the subject. Censorship was a powerful regime tool in the ČSR or the ČSSR and many writers were prevented of publishing any of their work. The thesis deals not only with books, which have been labeled in dictionaries as destroyed despite of their existence. It describes how the turning point between the 1960s and 1970s was manifested in libraries, book shops and secondhand bookstores; what the publishing practice of that time was like, or how the contemporaries that worked in the industry comment on the mentioned time period. Furthermore, the thesis explains what happened to the books that had been banned overnight, what the Editorial Board's practice was like, and finally, what working with banned books involved. A part of the thesis consists of outlining the political background including presentation of the list of books that were not allowed to be published, had to be withdrawn, or the whole edition "dissapeared". How many of such books can readers today actually hold in their hands?
