Práce se zabývá otázkami literárně-historického zasazení tvorby spisovatele Aloise Jiráska do tradice českého historického románu a charakteristikou jeho literárního ztvárnění historie. Alois Jirásek se totiž po vytvoření Československa v roce 1918 stal oficiálním symbolem literatury nového státu, na který navazovali mladší autoři ideově, tematicky, i po stránce formální výstavby děl. Jiráskova autorita nezeslábla ani v druhé polovině 20. století a Jiráskův způsob literárního výkladu českých dějin byl ideologicky zneužit. Na základě literární analýzy dvou historických románů (Proti všem a Temno) autorka práce charakterizuje narativní styl Aloise Jiráska a popisuje, jakými výrazovými prostředky dosahuje spisovatel umělecké účinnosti svých děl. Autorka si klade i otázku, zda dílo Aloise Jiráska je živé dnes. Klíčová slova Alois Jirásek, historický román, interpretace české historie, husitství, literární rozbor The thesis deals with the issues of literary-historical situation of works by Alois Jirásek in the Czech tradition of the historical novel and characteristic of literary representation of history by the writer. The thing is that after the creation of Czechoslovakia in 1918 Jirásek became the official symbol of the literature of the new state, and younger authors followed him ideologically, thematically, and after the formal construction of works. Jirásek's authority didn't weaken in the second half of the 20th century, when his method of literary interpretation of Czech history was ideologically misused. On the basis of literary analysis of two historical novels (Proti všem and Temno), the author of thesis describes Jirásek's narrative style and the means of expression that gives the writer the possibility to reach the art effectiveness of his novels.
