Cílem diplomové práce je zmapovat historii města Cheb v poválečné době pomocí rozhovorů s pamětníky a dobového tisku. Jedná se především o léta 1945-1950, ale práce obsahuje i stručnou historii města do roku 1945. Práce dále zkoumá novinové spektrum na Chebsku a jeho proměnu v poválečném období. Nejvýznamnějšími tématy, kterými se práce zabývá, jsou poválečné vysídlování německé populace, měnící se vztahy s USA a Sovětským Svazem, nástup komunismu a přestavbu Chebu, vše ve spojení s městem a vzpomínkami narátorů. Tato témata jsou postupně předkládána v rámci jednotlivých příběhů a doplněna citacemi z dobového tisku. The goal of this MA thesis lies in mapping the history of the city Cheb after the second world war with the help of narratives and press of those times. Focus is on years 1945-1950 but the thesis also contains information about the city's history until 1945. Another aspect of this thesis is the variety of newspaper specific for this region and the way it changes through the years after war. The most important themes of this thesis include evicion of Germans, changing relationships whith the USA and the Soviet Union, ascent of kommunism and reastructuraion of Cheb - all of these in connection with the city itself and the memories of narrators. These themes are submited within the stories of individual narrators and spulemented by citations from newspaper.
