Tato práce se zabývá vlivem endogenního opioidního systému na fyziologické procesy. Látky opioidní povahy a jejich receptory se nachází nejen v centrální, ale i periferní nervové soustavě, stejně jako i v dalších tkáních. Endogenní opioidy vznikají v těle a ovlivňují široké spektrum fyziologických funkcí. Jsou to regulátory bolesti, emocí, dýchání, paměti, homeostatických funkcí atd. Vzhledem k této rozmanitosti a šíři jejich účinku mohou mít mnoho možností lékařského využití, ať už na poli kardiologie, anesteziologie či psychiatrie. Samotné pochopení fungování opioidního systému je základním přepokladem pro hlubší studium většiny fyziologických procesů, neboť je tento systém více či méně ovlivňuje. Dodnes je proto studiu opioidního systému a novým objevům na tomto poli věnována velká pozornost. Opioid substances and their receptors are located not only in central but also in peripheral nervous systems, as well as in other tissues. Endogenous opioids are produced in the body and influence a wide-range of physiological functions. They are regulators of pain, emotions, breathing, memory, homeostatic functions, etc. Due to their diversity and variety of effects, they may have many possible medical uses, whether in the field of cardiology, anesthesiology or psychiatry. Since the opioid system influences many physiological processes, the understanding of its properties and functioning is prerequisite for deeper study of those processes. Therefore, the study of opioid system and new discoveries in this field receive a great deal of attention nowadays.
