Diplomová práce se věnuje vyrovnávání rodičů s transsexualitou potomka. Pro zmapování této problematiky byl vytvořen dotazník, který obsahuje 66 položek. Dotazník vyplnilo 16 rodičů transsexuálních osob (12 matek, 4 otcové). Ve dvou případech se jednalo o rodiče MtF jedinců, ve 14 o FtM. 11 rodičů bylo kontaktováno přes transsexuální dceru či transsexuálního syna, čtyři na psychoterapeutické skupině určené pro rodiče transsexuálního jedince a jeden rodič vyplnil dotazník na internetu, kde byl dotazník také umístěn. Z výsledků vyplývá, že nejtěžší v souvislosti s transsexualitou potomka byla pro většinu rodičů situace, kdy jim jedinec oznámil, že se cítí být příslušníkem opačného pohlaví. Pro většinu rodičů to byl šok a u většiny se také objevila lítost. Poté, co potomek rodičům oznámil, že se cítí být příslušníkem opačného pohlaví, se vztah mezi ním a jeho rodičem zlepšil. Současný vztah mezi rodičem a transsexuálním jedincem hodnotí rodiče jako dostatečně dobrý. Osobou, která rodiči nejvíce ve vyrovnávání s transsexualitou jedince pomohla, byl manžel nebo manželka, nejčastěji však rodiči nepomáhal nikdo. Většina rodičů se s transsexualitou svého potomka vyrovnala do měsíce. Z analýzy získaných údajů vyplynulo, že téměř všichni rodiče, kteří se výzkumu účastnili, byli již s transsexualitou svého potomka... This thesis deals with parental coping with the transsexualism of their offspring. A questionnaire containing 66 items was created for this purpose. 16 parents of transsexual offspring participated in the research (12 mothers, 4 fathers). Just two offsprings were MtF, the others were FtM. 11 parents were contacted via their transsexual offspring, four parents were addressed at while attending a psychotherapeutic group for parents of transsexual offsprings and one parent filled in the questionnaire placed on the Internet. We found out that the most difficult situation for the parents was the moment their transsexual offsprings announced their transsexualism. A majority of the parents were in the state of shock and a majority also felt sorry. After that, the relation between the parents and their transsexual offspring improved. The parents evaluated the current relation between them and their transsexual offspring as sufficiently good. The person who helped the parents most to cope with the transsexuality of their offspring was his or her spouse, however in most of the cases nobody actually helped the parent. The majority of the parents managed to cope with the transsexuality of their offspring within one month.
