BiologiaPlantarum52(): 601-615,2008 Abstract The review summarizes the level of current knowledge of impacts of vernalization and photoperiodon the induction and maintenanceof frost tolerance(FrT) in wheat and barley. The phenomenonof vernalizationis briefly describedandthe major vernalization(VRtrtr)loci are characterised.Yemalization requirementand the threemajor growth habits of Triticeae (facultative,winter and spring) are deťrnedon the basis of the two-locus VRN-2IVRN-I epistaticmodel. Chlad vede k indukci zýšenéúrovněmrazuvzďomosti a k indukci exprese genuDhn5 a proteinu DHN5 u odrůdječmenepatřícíchke všem rustovým typům - přesívky, oziméi jamí odrudy. V průběhuotuŽeníse však objevují rozdíIy spojenés různým rustovým typem, kteréjsou pravděpodobněpodmíněnyruzným vývojem rostlin. Jarní odrudy, kterénemaji jarovizaci, ustávajíve zvyšováníindukovanémrazwzdomosti a akumulace proteinu DHN5 dříve neŽ odrudy ozimé a přesívky (přesívky sice také nemají jarovizaci, a|e dokéžíindukovat mrazuvzdomost srovnatelnou s ozimými odrudami v důsledkuobdobnéhovývoje - schopnostisetrvatpoměrně dlouhou dobu ve vegetativnífáni vývoje zapodmínek krátkodenníhosvětelnéhoreŽimu).
