V oblasti přirozených smrkových porostů ve vrcholových partiích NPR Kněhyně v Beskydech byly mladé porosty jeřábu (Sorbus aucuparia) poškozovány lámáním kmínků. Původcem tohoto jevu byl jelen evropský. K lámání docházelo v průběhu léta a bylo motivováno potravní atraktivitou listů na vrcholku stromu. Young rowans (Sorbus aucuparia) were intensively damaged by stem breaking in mountain spruce stands in Kněhyně NR, Beskydy Mts. (CZ). Breakage was done by red deer during the summer and is clearly intended to permit access to the leaves on the treetops.
