Tento dokument se zabývá teoretickým rozborem druhů a parametrů 3G UMTS modulů. Stručně popisuje základní pojmy a fungování mobilních sítí a systému GPS. UMTS moduly popisuje nejprve z obecného pohledu a poté následuje porovnání dvou konkrétních modulů. Součástí dokumentu je i praktický návrh mobilní řídící jednotky pro modul Telit UC864-G. Návrh začíná rozborem vlastností modulu a dále pokračuje popisem celého návrhu zařízení od blokového schématu až po elektrické schéma a desku plošného spoje. Poslední část dokumentu popisuje výrobu řídící jednotky, její testování a nakonec i testování samotného modulu prostřednictvím sběrnice RS-232 z PC, pomocí programu s grafickým rozhraním, který byl pro tento účel vytvořen. This document deals with theoretical analysis of types and parameters of 3G UMTS modules. Briefly describing basic terms and principles of cellular networks and Global Position System. UMTS modules are firstly described from general point of view and subsequently there is comparison of two specific modules. Part of this document is practical design of control unit for 3G wireless module Telit UC864-G. Design starts with analysis of the module features and subsequently there is description of design procedure that begins with block diagram and ends with circuit schematic and printed circuit layout. Last part of this document describes construction of controll unit, its testing and finally even testing of module itself through serial bus RS-232 from PC with use of program with grafic interface, which have been written for this purpose.
